Highlights

India's Jehan Daruvala secured his maiden win of the season with a fantastic run in the sprint race of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The Carlin driver crossed the chequered flag with a lead of 6.1s, followed by Bent Viscaal in his best-ever finish in F2.  Meanwhile, Prema driver Robert Shwartzman took the last spot on the podium.

Daruvala qualified on the front row and started in second place on the grid with David Beckmann on pole position. A strong start allowed the Indian driver to take the lead on the first corner, while Viscaal and Hitech's Juri Vips traded spots for third.

An incident behind resulted in a Virtual Safety Car situation after Lap 3. The race began a few laps later and Jehan put his head down and drove cleanly making no mistakes. The first few laps had Beckman within DRS range, but Jehan managed to keep his lead by one second. Once Beckman was out of DRS range, Jehan steadily increased his lead every lap.

Three laps before the finish, Jehan had already opened a comfortable 5s margin. Beckmann under pressure fell down to third while Viscaal moved to P2. Shwartzman would go on to overtake Beckmann next for P3.

Jehan secured his third podium of the season with the sprint race and second F2 victory after the Sakhir GP season finale. The Red Bull junior will now start the feature race tomorrow in second position, where all racers need to complete a mandatory pit stop.
