F2: Jehan Daruvala Scores A Mega Double Podium In Monza
Highlights
- Jehan Daruvala started the sprint race in P5, finished in P3.
- He went from P6 on the grid to win the Feature Race.
- The big points haul means he leapfrogs from P9 to P5 in the championship - Just 9 points behind P3.
After having a few disappointing race weekends where Jehan Daruvala couldn't score any points, the Indian racing driver scored a stellar double podium in Italy to leap frog 4 places in the 2022 Formula 2 championship. Jehan qualified 6th, which meant that he was to start the Sprint Race in P5 and Feature Race in P6, and Jehan made the best use of this to convert the Sprint Race P5 grid position to a P3 finish, and P6 to a Feature Race win.

The Feature Race win was Daruvala's first of the 2022 season.
“It’s been a long time coming. We’ve had the win taken away from us for one reason or another on more than one occasion this year. But we’ve kept our heads down, kept believing, kept pushing and we’ve finally done it. And what a venue to do it at too! Monza is up there with one of my all-time favourite tracks and standing on the top step of this incredible podium, out over the main straight with the Indian national anthem playing out, feels so, so special”, Daruvala said after the Feature Race.
Jehan Daruvala moves into P5 in the 2022 Formula 2 Championship, and is 9 points behind P3 with 2 races to go.
With multiple consecutive poor weekends, Jehan Daruvala had slipped from P3 in the championship down to P9. This wonderful result has helped Daruvala leapfrog his competition, and he has now moved from P9 to P5 in the championship. Felipe Drugowich was crowned the 2022 Formula 2 champion in Italy, but the battle for the remainder of the top 3 spots is still very much on, and with just 9 points separating Logan Sargeant in P3 and Daruvala in P5, a top 3 finish in the championship is still on for the Indian driver, which may even put him in contention for a Formula 1 seat with AlphaTauri, for which IndyCar driver Colton Herta is also gunning.
