F1: Rosberg on Pole for the 4th Consecutive Time this Season
Highlights
After exchanging places in all the Free Practice sessions, both the Mercedes drivers were on track for another fight to the finish in the qualification session. A wet race track saw all the teams opting for intermediate tyres and Rosberg capitalized on this weather to beat team-mate Lewis Hamilton at the Spa-Francorchamps.
The two Mercedes were even more dominant in the tricky conditions and just when it looked like Hamilton could possibly end the pole-winning-spree of Nico Rosberg, his brakes did not seem to help his cause and he overshot the first curve. He tried to make up time in the first and second sectors but couldn't manage to improve on his time.
Sebastian Vettel qualified third but over two seconds slower than Rosberg and this will see him start alongside Fernando Alonso on row two.
Ricciardo will start in 5th place while the Williams, who looked to be a major threats for the Mercedes, were clearly disappointed by their performance. Bottas will start in 6th place while Massa will start in ninth. Kevin Magnussen and Kimi Raikkonen will start in 7th and 8th place while Jenson Button completed the top ten.
There is no doubt that Mercedes continues its dominance but Williams and Ferrari cannot be discounted out of the competition. However, Red Bull did impress in the qualifying session, it remains to be seen what strategy they have up their sleeve for a podium finish.
