F1 Malaysian Grand Prix: Mercedes dominates in FP3
Highlights
At the beginning of the FP3 session at the Sepang International Circuit, there was talk of rain. However, there wasn't a single drop on the circuit. The Mercedes drivers yet again proved that they were the fastest of the lot. Nico Rosberg put in the fastest time of 1:39.008s followed by team mate Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen.
Ericsson was first out in his Caterham and the rest of the bandwagon of cars followed. Red Bull driver Vettel could be heard on the radio saying how one of the stickers on the side of the car was flapping and immediately returned to the pit lane to get that addressed.
Lotus driver Maldonado set the first flying lap of the day with a 1:45.211 while fellow driver Grosjean made a mistake with minutes left on the clock and ended up into the gravel trap. McLarens Kevin Magnussen faced some problems with his car as he was experiencing no power while Jenson Button too faced similar issues.
There was a lot of action on the track today and with the qualifying session just minutes away the line-up after FP3 reads Rosberg, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Vettel, Hulkenberg, Ricciardo, Alonso, Massa, Bottas and Perez thus completing the top ten.
