Yet again, it was the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg who were fighting for the top times at Hockenheim during the second practice session. With the track temperature going past the 55 degree Celsius mark, everyone out on the track opted for the supersoft tyre compound.

Rosberg headed Hamilton by 0.065s in FP1 but Hamilton took revenge in FP2. Hamilton managed to set a time 1:18.314s while Rosberg was second fastest at 1:18.365s. The third spot, however, did not go to the Ferrari but it was Ricciardo's Red Bull that upped the ante with 1:18.443s.

Then there was a Ferrari, finally, belonging to Kimi Raikkonen with a time of 1m 18.887s making him the fourth fastest man on the track. Kevin Magnussen was fifth fastest and he was followed by Felipe Massa, Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso on 1m 18.329s. Valtteri Bottas was back on track taking over his Williams from the impressive Susie Wolff and his time put him in the top ten.

Tomorrow begins the FP3 session followed by Qualification and the battle is still between the Mercedes duo and it remains to be seen who will triumph.
