Highlights

Lewis Hamilton completed a hat-trick of wins for the first time in his F1 career with a comfortable victory in the Chinese Grand Prix. Hamilton started on pole and eased his way through the field and eventually took a 18.6 second lead over team-mate Rosberg, who recovered from a poor start to take second place.

It looked like Ferrari's Alonso would take second place but Rosberg manage to pass him with ease in the final stint. Alonso was constantly under attack from Red Bull Racing driver Daniel Ricciardo who was closing in on the Ferrari in the final laps of the race. But Alonso stuck it out and took third place on the podium.

Sebastian Vettel finished 5th behind Ricciardo while it was Nico Hulkenberg, Valtteri Bottas, Kimi Raikkonen, Sergio Perez and Daniil Kvyat completed the top ten.

Felipe Massa, in search of a clear road ahead, made a flying start but touched wheels with Alonso on the run to Turn 1, momentarily being launched in to the air, while Vettel had to defend from Alonso in to Turn 5. While the replays clearly showed that Alonso was not to be blamed for the incident, Massa did complain to the Team on radio.

But Hamilton looked in good form and his only moment of concern was before his final lap when he radioed his team saying that he just saw a chequered flag. But, thankfully, he did not slow down and maintained the pace as he crossed the line to seal his victory.

Team Mercedes leads in the constructors championship too while Red Bull is in second ahead of Ferrari.

The action now moves to Catalunya where the Spanish fans will be cheering for just one team and one driver - Fernando Alonso!
