F1: Brazilian GP Still On; Date To Be Confirmed
Highlights
- The race at Interlagos is on, said the Sao Paulo governor
- It could happen either on November 7 or 14, 2021
- It will be part of a triple header that includes Mexico and the US races
The Brazilian GP which is to be held in Sao Paulo at the legendary Interlagos race track has been under a shadow for some time considering the magnitude of the COVID19 crisis in Brazil which is still ongoing. However, now there is some good news as the race will be held at the Brazilian race track in 2021, though its date hasn't been confirmed. This is important because it is also the venue for the third sprint race of the season after the Italian GP at Monza. Currently, it has a tentative date for the weekend of November 7 as part of a triple-header for the Americas, starting with Brazil, then shifting to Mexico for the Mexican GP and finally the US GP in Texas, though the final date is yet to be confirmed.

There are chances the race could be pushed back to November 14 but that decision will be taken later this month on August 26. It is fifty-fifty at the moment. It is a puzzle, but we will fight for it. In any case, I can say with certainty that the race will not be cancelled. That has been confirmed,'' said promoter Alan Adler.
But better news was in store from the Sao Paulo governor who said that only a major catastrophic situation could lead to the cancellation of the race.
''No chance at all. Only if a catastrophic situation or something unexpected happens. We are relaxed here, but just need to pin the date," said Governor Joao Doria.
The track at Interlagos is one of the most challenging on the calendar due to its anti-clockwise nature and variable climate which makes it one of the most unpredictable races of the year. It could also offer a cracker of a sprint race.
