Exicom Sets Up 5,000 EV Charges Across India In Four Years
Highlights
Exicom has announced that it has installed it's 5,000th EV charger in India since it first won the EV charging tender in 2018. The 5,000 chargers have been installed across 200 cities across the country with the milestone charger – a 200kW charger for Tata Power – installed in Delhi at a DTC (Delhi Transport Commission) depot. The company says that it has installed a mix of AC and DC fast chargers across multiple locations such as bus depots, fleet operators, public charging stations, residential communities and households.
“We are immensely proud to achieve first of our many milestones in such a short span of time. Deployment of 5000 EV chargers across the country, is just a stepping stone towards achieving the bigger vision of supporting charging network for EVs in India with products that are future proof, reliable and are industry leading in terms of performance,” said company MD and CEO Anant Nahata.
The company has said that of the 5000 chargers installed around 3600 are AC chargers with the remaining 1400 being DC chargers.
The installation of chargers across cities should be a boon to the growth of EV sales in the country with the segment now starting to catch on with buyers. Increasing number of incentives provided by states and the central government along with the introduction of newer EVs especially in the budget end of the market. Not only have manufacturers such as Tata, Hyundai and MG launched EVs in the lower segments but luxury brands such as Mercedes, Audi, BMW and Jaguar too have launched models to cater to luxury EV buyers. EV sales have been on the rise in the past one year with the Nexon EV having established itself as the bestseller in the four-wheeler EV space.
