What are Microfiber Towels?

Microfiber is a very fine (about 1/100th of the diameter of a human hair) synthetic fiber made from a combination of polyamide and polyester. These fibers are added in distinct ratios, thus creating a wide range of microfibers. Usually, the blend ratio of the microfiber towel is 90/10 or 75/25, which is the ratio of polyester to polyamide. The density of the microfiber fabric is directly proportional to its absorption rate. It is measured in grammes per square metre (GSM). Why Use Microfiber Towels?

Microfiber towels are incredibly soft and non-abrasive. You will spot a star-shaped formation on each strand of the microfiber. Because of their ability to attract dust and dirt and absorb liquid, microfiber towels work better than regular towels. When you use a cotton towel to clean your car, it leaves strands of lint. The ones that stay on the glass are annoying. However, due to microfibers' high absorbency property, this is not the case.

1. Buy a specific microfiber towel for each part of your car; do not use one for cleaning all parts. You would not want to contaminate the interior with bird droppings or scratch the auto paint after wiping the wheels.

2. Try not to wash all the towels together; in fact, place them separately. If this is impossible, then pre-soak towels in warm water. Do not wash microfiber clothes with cotton towels.

3. You can use liquid detergent, microfiber wash solution, or regular detergent with a half cup of vinegar. Avoid fabric softener as it loses the static charge of the towel.

4. Do not add bleach or powdered laundry detergent.

5. Hot or warm water works the best to remove dust and dirt.

6. Do not dry the towel in extreme heat; use the lowest heat setting in your dryer.

7. Do not iron the microfiber towel; it melts polyester and reduces the fabric's effectiveness.

8. Keep the towels in a covered zone as they are prone to catching dust particles quickly.
