Emission Scandal: VW Group India to Submit Plan of Action by Jan End
Highlights
VW's recall of 2.0-litre Amarok models in Europe also started after Germany's Federal Transport Authority said Volkswagen can "now start recalling and refitting" the aforementioned cars. While the carmaker's proposals for other models is still under review, the plan comprises fixing higher capacity diesel engines first.
However, the carmaker's proposed fix for affected cars in US and South Korea has been rejected by the concerned authorities of the two countries.
Volkswagen Group India's proposed plan of action will need to be ratified by ARAI - a process that will take about 30 days. After the requisite testing, the research agency's report will be shared with the ministry of heavy industries, that, in turn, will give the final approval. One must note, Volkswagen will be able to begin recall of the affected vehicles only after the department's nod.
ARAI is expected to submit its report about VW's relevant plan only by March, 2016.
