Elon Musk Says Tesla Cybertruck Will Have Yoke Steering

- The Cybertruck will have a yoke steering as per Musk
- The original prototype showcased a Yoke steering in 2019
- Then Tesla commercialised the tech with the Model S Plaid in 2021
Elon Musk has revealed that even the Cybertruck will have its controversial yoke steering wheel which it has even deployed in the consumer production models of the Model S Plaid. Tesla actually first showed off a yoke steering wheel with the prototype of the Cybertruck which was unveiled before the pandemic in 2019.
It has been a polarising move since it is hard to navigate the car at slow speeds or when the surface is slippery. It also removes the turn signal stocks with haptic buttons. However, it provides better visibility, better control for higher speeds.
When asked about it on Twitter, Musk said, " Cybertruck is intentionally an insane technology bandwagon."
"Cybertruck will reach far into a post-apocalyptic future and bring that technology to now," he quipped.
Musk has also revealed that Tesla has been working on progressive steering which is years away. He revealed that a steer-by-wire system will be ideal something which Toyota has showcased in its first electric car.
"Variable gain (steer by wire) yoke would be ideal," Musk said which could be a hint that the Tesla Cybertruck could be the first one with it.
