The BMW S 1000 RR is one of the finest litre-class superbikes available on sale
BMW S 1000 RR
The BMW S 1000 RR offers a very good option in the world of high performance motorcycling. Compared to the Panigale V4, the S 1000 RR offers a screaming inline four-cylinder engine, and comes loaded to the brim with electronic rider aids. The BMW S 1000 RR is powered by a 999 cc, in-line four-cylinder water/oil-cooled engine that comes with four titanium valves per cylinder, and BMW ShiftCam. The engine is tuned to churn out a maximum of 203.8 bhp at 13,500 rpm and develops a peak torque of 113 Nm at 11,000 rpm. Prices begin at Rs. 19.50 lakh (Ex-showroom).

The iconic Honda Fireblade needs no introduction, and still has enough performance to punch its way through the very best litre-class performance superbikes. The Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade gets a 1000 cc in-line four-cylinder 4-stroke 16-valve DOHC liquid-cooled engine that is tuned to make 214.5 bhp at 14,500 rpm and it develops 113Nm at 12,500 rpm. With a kerb weight of 201 kg, the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade offers a superb option in the litre-class superbike segment.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R provides the best bang for your buck, if you consider its very attractive pricing. Although it's still got 200+ bhp performance, the ZX-10R is priced at just Rs. 14.99 lakh (Ex-showroom), making it a superb choice in the world of litre-class superbikes. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is powered by a 998 cc, inline four-cylinder engine which makes 200 bhp at 13,200 rpm and 114.9 Nm of peak torque at 11,400 rpm. The ZX-10R has just 207 kg kerb weight.
The 1,340 cc inline four-cylinder engine is retained, but now makes 187 bhp at 9,700 rpm, 150 Nm at 7,000 rpm
Suzuki Hayabusa
The Suzuki Hayabusa isn't what you'd describe as a true-blue sportbike. Yes, it's more a sport-touring machine, but it definitely doesn't lack in the performance department, and can boast of very quick acceleration, a super smooth engine and state-of-the-art electronics. The Hayabusa is powered by a 1,340 cc, inline four-cylinder engine which makes 187 bhp at 9,700 rpm and 150 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm, a lot more powerful in pure numbers. With a price tag, that is a lot less than the Ducati Panigale V4, the Hayabusa also makes for a more practical option in the litre-class segment. It's priced at Rs. 16.40 lakh (Ex-showroom).

The Ducati Multistrada V4 is powered by the V4 Granturismo engine, which makes 168 bhp, 125 Nm. Visually, the Ducati Multistrada V4 looks somewhat similar to the v-twin models with a familiar face, complete with the small beak below the LED headlight.

The Ducati Panigale V4 has more rivals, like the Yamaha YZF-R1, the Aprilia RSV4, and the Suzuki GSX-R1000R, but the updated models of these bikes are not offered on sale in India right now. That brings us to another Ducati, which is not exactly a sportbike, but has performance, versatility and sophisticated electronics, to make it a worthy rival, the Multistrada V4. The fourth generation Multistrada is the first production motorcycle in the world to feature a front and rear radar-powered rider-assistance system, but it's available only in the top-spec V4 S variant. The Multistrada V4 is powered by V4 Granturismo engine, with a 90-degree, counter-rotating crankshaft, and twin pulse firing order. The V4 engine has 1,158 cc displacement, and puts out 167 bhp of maximum power at 10,500 rpm and 125 Nm of peak torque at 8,750 rpm.

The 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 is available in two variants. The Multistrada V4 is available in Ducati Red with cast wheels, and priced at Rs. 18.99 lakh (Ex-showroom). The top-spec Multistrada V4 S with adaptive cruise control and blind spot detection is available in Ducati Red, priced at Rs. 23.10 lakh (Ex-showroom), while the V4 S in Aviator Grey is priced at Rs. 23.30 lakh (Ex-showroom).
