Engine & Performance
Both the Ducati Multistrada V4 and V4 S are powered by the V4 Granturismo engine, with a 90-degree, counter-rotating crankshaft, and twin pulse firing order. The V4 engine has 1,158 cc displacement, and puts out 167 bhp of maximum power at 10,500 rpm and 125 Nm of peak torque at 8,750 rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a six-speed gearbox, with Ducati Quick Shift Up and Down system on the V4 S.

The most significant change to the V4 Granturismo engine is that it does not use desmodromic valve actuation, but regular springs. The new application gives the engine "record-breaking maintenance intervals" of 60,000 km. The switch from the Desmodromic valve system was to offer longer maintenance intervals without valve adjustment, and Ducati says the lessons learnt from perfecting the Desmodromic valvetrain actually helped Ducati to make this spring-valve system. The engine will also feature rear cylinder deactivation, which will essentially shut down the rear two cylinders of the V4 engine while at idle revs. This will help the engine run cooler in traffic and also aid in better fuel efficiency.

Design
The Ducati Multistrada V4's design is similar to the first iconic Multistrada with mass forward design, and a sleek rear end. But the shape is unmistakably Multistrada, looking somewhat similar to the v-twin models, complete with the small beak below the LED headlight. The bodywork has layered air vent silts to aid in improved aerodynamics and better thermal comfort. Seat height is adjustable, with two positions; 840 mm and 860 mm (810 mm low seat and 875 mm high seat are also available as accessories).

Features & Electronics
The standard Multistrada V4 features a LED lighting system with a 5-inch TFT screen, while the V4 S features full-LED system with cornering lights, as well as a 6.5-inch TFT instrument console. The dedicated connectivity app for smartphones not just integrates various phone apps into the bike's systems, but also features turn-by-turn navigation which appears directly on the bike's dash.
The Multistrada V4 gets Ducati's latest electronics system, powered by an inertial measurement unit to manage the cornering anti-lock braking system (ABS), wheelie control and traction control systems, as well as cornering lights for the S models. The Multistrada V4 offers four ride modes: Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro, each with different adjustments for engine output, traction control and ABS to suit different styles of riding. The Ducati Multistrada V4 also gets Vehicle Hold Control System, which applies the rear brake to hold the bike steady for easier restarts, especially on a gradient or a hill. There's also an optional tyre pressure monitoring system on offer.
Radar System
The Ducati Multistrada V4 is the first production bike in the world to adopt radar technology. The radar-powered safety system uses front and rear radars which manages two functions: Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Detection. In India, the radar system will be a standard fitment on the Multistrada V4 S and will not be available on the Multistrada V4. The adaptive cruise control adjusts the brake and throttle to maintain a user-selected minimum following distance behind other vehicles. The blind spot detection system activates lights on the mirrors to warn the rider of vehicles approaching at high speeds from behind.
Chassis & Cycle Parts
The Multistrada V4 range comes with 170 mm wheel travel at the front and 180 mm on the rear, a particularly generous suspension system which when combined with the frame layout as well as oil sump shape, guarantees an impressive ground clearance of 220 mm. Where the Multistrada V4 gets a Marzocchi mechanical suspension with adjustable fork with 50 mm diameter stanchions and adjustable monoshock at the rear, the Multistrada V4 S is equipped with semi-active Marzocchi suspension controlled by the Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) Evolution system.
The Multistrada V4 gets twin 320 mm brake discs at the front, with Brembo M4.32 front calipers while the Multistrada V4 S is equipped with 330 mm discs, along with Brembo Stylema calipers. Both versions come with 19" wheels (120/70 Pirelli Scorpion Trail tyres) at the front and 17" wheels (170/60 Pirelli Scorpion Trail tyres) at the back, with the Multistrada V4 S getting an option for Spoked Wheels, straight from the factory. The spoked wheels version will come to India later this year.
