When the DSK Group announced its association with Italian superbike manufacturer Benelli, Shirish Kulkarni, Chairman, DSK Hyosung, had made it very clear that there will be a significant investment made into a plant where the Benelli bikes will be assembled.

We were told in an interview then, that DSK Motoowheels was looking for a place around Pune which will help in assembling the Benelli and Hyosung products. The plan seems to have fallen into place as there is word of the company investing in a new unit which will be in the vicinity of their current plant.

The existing unit of the company assembles Hyosung bikes and has a single shift capacity of 3000 units per year, a double shift can push it to making 5000 bikes annually. 2015 will see the DSK and Benelli banner launch the Tornado Naked Tre, TNT 302, TNT 600i, TNT 899 and the TNR 1130 R.

This partnership Benelli has opened new avenues for DSK and as Shirish Kulkarni said, the company will also gain access to making bikes with lower capacities and this will see them enter the mass market of commuter bikes. However, that plan is still in the distant future but DSK Motowheels is making a strong headway to achieve that goal.
