Datsun redi-GO Global Premiere: Highlights
Highlights
- Datsun redi-GO world premiere is happening in India
- The redi-GO is set to be a trump cars for Datsun in the entry level space
- The car is expected to be launched in India in the second half of 2016
As mentioned earlier, Datsun redi-GO is the second car in India to be based on Renault-Nissan Alliance's CMF-A platform. The car's price will allegedly be lower than that of the Renault Kwid and will be produced in the alliance's Oragadam facility in Tamil Nadu. Compared to its concept counterpart that we saw in the 2014 Auto Expo, the production version seems to been toned down. That said, the styling and the aggressive character lines of the concept car are still expected to find there way in the production model.

Along with the aggressive styling and features, the redi-GO is also likely to borrow Renault Kwid's 800cc, three-cylinder petrol engine that makes 50bhp and 100Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox sending power to the front wheel. In terms of features, Datsun is mum about the redi-GO, whereas the interiors still remain a mystery. Expect to see a host of cycle parts from the GO on the redi-GO in a bid to gain higher economies of scale.
