CV Sales September 2021: Ashok Leyland Registers 12% Growth In The Domestic Market

Home-grown commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland recently announced monthly sales numbers for September 2021. Last month, the company's total volumes stood at 9,533 units compared to 8,332 vehicles sold during the corresponding month in 2020, registering a growth of 14 per cent. Compared to the 9,360 units (Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles + Light Commercial Vehicles) sold by the company in August 2021, Ashok Leyland witnessed a Month-on-Month (M-o-M) growth of 1.8 per cent.

Ashok Leyland's total sales for the domestic market stood at 8,787 units, witnessing a growth of 12 per cent compared to the 7,835 vehicles sold in the corresponding month last year. Compared to the 8,400 units sold in August 2021, Ashok Leyland witnessed an M-o-M growth of 4.6 per cent.
As for exports, in September 2021, Ashok Leyland exported 746 commercial vehicles from India, registering over 50 per cent growth compared to 497 units exported during the same month last year. It includes 531 units of Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles and 215 units of light commercial vehicles. Out of the total Medium and Heavy commercial vehicles sold in India, 4341 units were trucks, whereas 188 units were buses. The light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment saw a 5 per cent decline last month, at 4,473 units, as against 4,702 units sold in September 2020. The company sold 4258 light commercial vehicles in the domestic market in September 2021.
