Highlights

Chevrolet first showcased the Bolt EV as a concept at the 2015 NAIAS Motor Show and then said that the car will make its way into production. The company has now taken the wraps off the car and has also said that it will enter production later this year.

The Bolt is a compact five-door hatchback and comes with LED-infused head lamps and an aerodynamic dual-element grille. It also comes with gloss black accents, a distinctive greenhouse, a tailgate-mounted spoiler, and LED tail lamps. It gets the signature Chevrolet front grille as well which we've seen on the new-gen Beat and Cruze but we have to admit that the rear three-quarter styling does remind us of the Honda Jazz.

Chevrolet has made sure that the Bolt is unique and the cabin too has been styled to bring out that aspect. The drivers will find it refreshing inside as the dashboard comes with a unique shape and a digital instrument cluster. Then there is the 10.2-inch MyLink infotainment system that has a customizable, widget-based 'flip-board style' operation.

The company has made sure that the Bolt EV comes packed with features catering to the new generation and that's why there are features like a wireless smartphone charging dock, a Surround Vision system, and an EV-specific navigation system that shows nearby charging stations and provides routes that maximize the car's range.

Then there is the technology, which surprisingly Chevrolet is not talking about. There are no details released by the company about what powers the Bolt. The only thing they've confirmed is that it has a flat battery pack that is mounted beneath the floor and will enable the car to have range in excess of 321 km. The Bolt will be equipped with an advanced driving range indicator that factors in the time of day, typography, weather and the owner's driving habits. To make things a bit interesting for the drivers, Chevrolet also confirmed that it is developing a gaming mode which will allow owners to compete against each other to see who is driving the most efficiently.
