Cars We Said Goodbye To In 2021
Highlights
Car manufacturers have to retire the good, the bad, and the mediocre range from their lineup every year. It doesn't necessarily mean that these vehicles have something fundamentally wrong with them. Some cars might not gain enough traction, while others bear the brunt of market shifts.
The new economy crossovers and SUVs supersede these models. In some cases, the auto brands are just trimming the fat to make space for new competing models. Here's a list of six cars that are not returning to the roads in 2021!
Ford EcoSport
Unfortunately, the Ford Ecosport did not make a cut this year owing to Ford's exit from the Indian market. However, the car had a brilliant run since its entry in 2012. We think it is an understatement to say that it was one of the best-selling subcompact SUVs in India.
The Ford Ecosport housed brilliant dynamics and a powerful engine. But almost after nine years in the market, it was time for the Ecosport to make space for others.
Toyota Yaris
Let's talk about sedans that won't be coming back in 2021. Surprisingly, Toyota had to pull the plug on the Yaris. The Yaris was one of the most reliable four-wheelers with features that every car owner desires. But, it was unable to attract buyers. Well, with Honda City and Hyundai Verna dominating the sedan market, the Yaris didn't stand a chance.
Ford Endeavour
Don't be surprised to see yet another Ford model on our list. With Ford having to exit the Indian market, it had to pull the plug on many of its popular models. One of it was the Ford Endeavour which had a huge fanbase of its own. The Endeavour managed to win many hearts with its burly body and robust looks. But, after a decade of doing so, it finally had to bid adieu.
Skoda Rapid
The next on our list is the Skoda Rapid. The Rapid was the best combination of power-packed performance and affordability. This sedan offered value for money to Indian buyers.
The Rapid had everything and anything that models at a similar price did not offer. The engine was more than capable and offered 110ps of max power.
Ford Figo
The Ford Figo was indeed the most powerful model in its segment. After all, the brand made sure that the engine in Ford Figo turned heads. The 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine could generate robust power. This hatchback set the benchmark high for existing and upcoming models in the segment.
Some of these cars have enjoyed a long reign in the Indian automobile market. So, which of these cars will you miss the most?
