Car Sales July 2018: Maruti Suzuki Sales Drop, Toyota Growth Backed By Innova Sales

It's the first day of the new month and we eagerly await to see how the car manufacturers have performed in the previous one. July 2018 did not see much in terms of launches as far as cars are concerned, however, there was the Jazz facelift and even the Porsche 911 GT2 RS and that's because everyone is waiting for the festive season to launch their cars. However, the sales in July 2018 have been encouraging and car manufacturers are pleased by the response from the market. The trend will only go upward from here as most of the company's have lined up a whole bunch of launches in the coming two months. But let's see how each of the manufacturers have performed in terms of sales in July 2018.
Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki India today released its monthly sales reports for July 2018, and the company's total sales have gone down by 0.6 per cent compared to last year. In July 2018 the company's total sales accounted for 164,369 units, compared to the 165,346 vehicles sold during the same month in 2017. However, the biggest drop in numbers was for the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, which saw a decline of 99.2 per cent in July 2018. The company sold only 48 units Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in July 2018, compared to the 6,377 units sold in July 2017. Toyota
Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold a total of 13677 units in the domestic market in July 2018. The company exported 747 units of the Etios series this month thus clocking a total of 14424 units. TKM had sold 17750 units in the domestic market, which was the best ever July Sales due to consciously lowering the volumes of vehicles sold to the dealers in June to 1973 surrounding uncertainty regarding GST implementation. Mahindra
Mahindra & Mahindra announced its sales performance for July 2018 which stood at 47,199 vehicles, compared to 41,819 vehicles during July 2017, a growth of 13 per cent. The company's domestic sales touched 44,605 vehicles during July 2018, registering a growth of 12 per cent. The Passenger Vehicles segment (which includes UVs, Cars and Vans) sold 19,781 vehicles in July 2018, as against 21,034 vehicles in July 2017 which is a drop of 6 per cent. However, it looks like that number will change in the coming few months as the company is all set to launch the Marazzo MPV as also the G4 SUV which is based on the Rexton and of course the sub-compact SUV - the S201. Ford
Ford India today release the sales report for the month of July 2018, and the carmaker's total sales for the month was 25,028 units. Compared to July 2017, during which the company sold 26,075 vehicles, Ford India saw a drop of 4 per cent in total sales in July 2018. The company's domestic wholesales in July stood at 7,816 vehicles as against the 8,418 units sold during the same month last year, registering a decline of 7.15 per cent. Exports, on the other hand, also went down by 2.5 per cent, with the company recording 17,212 vehicles, compared to 17,657 units that were exported in July 2017. Last month, however, Ford India registered a 37 per cent increase in sales of its vehicles in the domestic market with 8,444 vehicles compared to 6,149 units in the same month last year. However, exports continued to decline for Ford India. The company exported 10,386 vehicles against 14,649 units in June 2017 and that's down by a significant margin of 29 per cent. Honda
Honda Cars India registered a growth of 17 per cent in July 2018 with a monthly domestic sales of 18,970 units as against 17,085 units sold during the same month last year. The company's bestseller turned out to be the new generation Amaze with a record 10,180 units sold last month. It also garnered the highest-ever monthly sales for a single model in Honda India's line-up. The Honda WR-V and the City were the other models that led the charge with respect to volumes. Honda India sold 62,579 units between April and July 2018, growing by 12.5 per cent in year-to-date sales. The automaker also exported a total fofo 638 units in July this year. Read Full Report Here.
Hyundai
Hyundai Motor India sold 59,590 units in July this year, registering a growth of 7.7 per cent over 55,315 units sold during the same month last year. The Korean car maker's domestic sales stood at 43,381 units, growing by 1.1 per cent, as against 43,007 units sold in July 2017. The company continues to remain one of the largest exports in the industry and shipped 16,109 units in July 2018, up by 31 per cent over 12,308 units exported in July last year. Hyundai's strong performance was attributed to products like the Grand i10, Xcent, i20 facelift, new generation Verna and the updated Creta SUV.
