Bespoke editions and customisation are not new to Bugatti and ever since the first Chiron rolled out, the company tried keeping the range fresh coming up with bespoke models every now and then. And the Bugatti Super Sport and Pur Sport are great examples of that. The Bugatti Chiron is a rare supercar with only 500 units scheduled for production and now the company has commissioned even rare bespoke editons of Chiron as the model is inching closer to the end of its lifecycle. So if you're out in the market looking for the rarest of the rare Supercar, Bugatti's Sur Mesure customisation program is ready to serve you.
Bugatti has shared images of two Chirons with exterior and interior touches to make them stand out even more. Well, it goes without saying that they get a special paint job for its exterior and Bugatti calls it Vague de Lumiere body treatment. It took five weeks to finish each car with this particular body colour with hand painted designs while the inspiration being 'how light reflects off the body.' You also see similar contrast stitching on the inside.
The Chiron Super Sport wears a light blue base colour with orange strips and wheels. The official colours are calls California Blue and Arancia Mira while the design is quite elaborate. You see these strips on each body panel with variations in shape and thickness throughout. On special request, the grille sports the number 38 which is also painted in Arancia Mira and the colour is prevalent throughout the customized interior.
The Chiron Pur Sport also features strips but here these are a bit more subtle. Its exterior is a mix of blue with exposed Blue Carbon bodywork overlayed with Nocture stripes. Bugatti lettering in blue is quite prevalent on the wing, with the red-white-blue French flag providing some extra color on the spoiler endplates. The number 9 painted in French Racing Blue is seen on the grille, and moving inside, there's more French Racing Blue along with black for interior trim.
To create both bespoke editions, designs are first envisioned in a two-dimensional format, then applied to the three-dimensional surface of the car. And all the striping is hand-painted in multiple layers. Then, the cars are finished with multiple clear coat layers. In fact, Bugatti gave a similar treatment to a Veyron back in 2011, creating a car known as the Grand Sport L'Or Blanc.
