BS6 Honda Gold Wing Teased; India Launch Soon

It was in January 2021 that Honda revealed the updated Gold Wing globally. Now, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is all set to launch the updated motorcycle in India soon. In fact, HMSI teased the new motorcycle on its 'BigWing' social media handles. BigWing is Honda's chain of dealerships catering to premium motorcycles from the brand. Honda's flagship cruiser motorcycle, the 2021 Gold Wing was introduced with four variants and received updates for rider and pillion comfort as well.

Honda already sells the 2021 Gold Wing in other markets globally and the motorcycle uses the same engine as before, which is a 1,833 cc, liquid-cooled flat-six motor, which makes 125 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 170 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. The Gold Wing is available in the choice of a 6-speed manual transmission, with an electric reverse gear, or a 7-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox, with a reverse gear. Of course, the engine will be BS6 compliant. The cruiser motorcycle continues to get four riding modes which are sport, rain, tour and eco.

The changes for 2021 include improved speakers, as well as more pillion comfort for the Gold Wing Tour variant. The standard model is available in a new colour, called Pearl Deep Mud Grey, and the top-spec Tour edition is available in Gunmetal Black Metallic and Candy Ardent Red for the DCT Tour variant. The Gold Wing Tour also gets Android Auto, along with Apple CarPlay. The 2021 Honda Gold Wing with manual transmission has a kerb weight of 366 kg, while the DCT variant has a kerb weight of 367 kg.
The top-spec 2021 Honda Gold Wing Tour also gets a boost in luggage capacity, with an increase of 11 litres, from 110 to 121 litres, with the pillion backrest also being modified for the new bike. The seats on the Tour version also get slightly more premium looking synthetic leather cover. The speakers have 45 watts of power, and the automatic volume-adjustment level feature is improved on the new model.

Expect the motorcycle to be launched in India in the coming weeks, if not months. Prices of the BS4 variant of the Gold Wing started at Rs. 28.2 lakh (ex-showroom) and one can expect a premium of a few lakh rupees for the updated, BS6 model.
