- Next-generation braking systems will be developed in Silicon Valley
- The Brembo Inspiration Lab is expected to open later in 2021
Italian brakes brand Brembo has announced that it will open its first hi-tech lab in California's Silicon Valley. The centre of excellence, as it's called, will be an innovation lab that will be focussed on strengthening the company's expertise in software development, data science and artificial intelligence, Brembo said in a statement. The company is headquartered in Italy, but Brembo has manufacturing facilities in other countries, including Indian subsidiary ByBre. In fact, Brembo already has a strong presence in North America, with its US headquarters and R&D centre located in Plymouth, Michigan. The company also has manufacturing facilities in Michigan, New Jersey and Monterrey, Mexico.

"We are in an era of data science and the application of artificial intelligence, which offers us a great opportunity to build our future and strengthen our technological leadership. With the Brembo Inspiration Lab we accept the challenge to increase the company's digital culture and to bring 'Made in Brembo' innovation even closer to our partners," Schillaci added.

Clearly, Brembo is looking to further develop new innovations in the area of electronic safety tech. And on the table will be next-generation braking systems, which will be more intelligent, and will possibly combine brake-by-wire sysems with other data about traffic, vehicle dynamics and drivers' habits to develop the next generation state-of-the-art braking systems.
