BMW India to Raise Car Prices From January

BMW India announced on Thursday that their cars will become costlier by 3 per cent with effect from January 1, 2016. The price hike will affect the MINI product range in India as well.

    BMW India announced on Thursday that their cars will become costlier by 3 per cent with effect from January 1, 2016. The price hike will affect the MINI product range in India as well.

    "The increase in prices is in continuation of our endeavour to offer the most aspirational and exceptional products to our customers and on adding more value to their overall ownership experience," Philipp von Sahr, BMW Group India, President, said in a statement.

    "We believe that the circle of 'Sheer Driving Pleasure' can only be completed by introducing innovative products, building world-class dealerships, state-of-the-art services that engages passionately with our clientele to deliver premium services ahead of its time," he added.

    In mid-2015, BMW India had dropped the prices of its cars after increasing the level of localisation at its plant in Chennai by up to 50 per cent.

    Some of the cars that the German luxury carmaker currently sells in India are the 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7 Series, along with the X Series of SUVs, the performance-oriented M Series and the hybrid model i8, which are priced between Rs. 29.9 lakh and Rs. 2.29 crore. BMW India has 39 sales outlets across various cities in the country.

    As for the MINI luxury compact car portfolio under the BMW Group, there are 4 models available via 4 exclusive outlets across India, with a price range from Rs. 28.5 lakh to Rs. 36.5 lakh.
