Pieter Nota, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for customers, brands and sales, said, "The sales success of the past nine months shows how our customers appreciate our strong, sustainable and emotionally engaging product line-up. We have so far been able to offset the semiconductor supply bottlenecks over the full year with a strong operating performance. We are confident we can meet our ambitious sales targets and achieve solid, profitable growth for 2021. We have more than doubled our sales of fully-electric vehicles since the start of the year - and are therefore underscoring our impressive electro-offensive."
BMW also revealed that the sales of its electrified vehicles nearly doubled witnessing a growth of 98.9 per cent between January and September 2021. While overall volumes were down during Q3 2021, the company's EVs and plug-in hybrid vehicles registered a 43.1 per cent growth in sales year-on-year with 78,333 units sold. A total of 59,688 pure electric vehicles have been delivered to customers with the BMW Group witnessing a 121.4 per cent increase since the start of 2021. The company also confirmed that the fully electric iX3 has given the brand a major boost in the EV space with 20,887 units sold this year so far. The company anticipates another boost in EV sales with the launch of the iX and i4 in November in global markets.
