While other carmakers have been testing their products on different terrains across the world, BMW decided to take it a few lightyears ahead by creating a test drive experience for the new X3 on Mars. Well, actually virtual test drive experience. What could be called as one of the most interesting promotion campaigns from BMW, the Bavarian carmaker has released a 360-degree virtual reality video that shows the top-spec X3 M40i being driven on the red planet. The video also cleverly talks about the different smart and autonomous features of the BMW X3.
Now, it goes without saying that it is not possible to drive the BMW X3 on Mars, or any of our convention cars, mainly because of the internal combustion engine, which needs oxygen to function. And the BMW X3 M40i for the matter is powered by an M Performance TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder inline engine. The 3-liter petrol motor makes about 350 bhp and develops about 500 Nm. With much firepower, the all-new BMW X3 M40i comes with a top speed of 250 kmph.
As mentioned before, the new virtual video also demonstrates about some of the smart autonomous features of the new BMW X3. Features like adaptive headlights that automatically turn on sensing the change in light condition, the steering a lane keep assist for safer driving, and even the semi-autonomous driving mode and even crossroads warning that alerts you about oncoming vehicles. Other features that are highlighted in the video include the premium leather interiors, panoramic glass roof with electric sunroof, an intuitive dashboard inspired from the latest generation of BMW cars.
The 360-degree video also gives viewers a virtual representation of the outside environment.
