Best Scooters Under Rs. 50,000: Automatic scooters are practical and easy to ride for people of all age groups. They are lightweight, have adequate power and are one of the best options for daily commuting. So, are you looking to buy a new scooter? Then you're certain to be spoilt for choice, with so many scooter models in the market ranging from 90 cc to 150 cc which can be counted among the best scooters in India. In fact, automatic scooters sold 5.6 million unit sales in the financial year 2017 (April 2016-March 2017), with overall sales increasing by 11.38 per cent year-on-year, while total two-wheeler sales grew at just 6.9 per cent. Of these numbers, nearly 5.4 million scooters are in the 90 cc - 125 cc segment, and there are so many models from so many manufacturers that it's easy to get confused.
In terms of popularity, it's the Honda Activa which leads the sales charts, accounting for 2.7 million of total scooter sales. These sales numbers though include total sales of the Activa 4G, Activa 125 and the Activa i. But there are many other scooter models too, which can be as capable and inexpensive, not just from Honda, but from other manufacturers as well. So, here's a look at the best scooters under Rs 50,000.
1. Honda Cliq
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the company's least expensive scooter, the Honda Cliq. It's available in two variants - STD and Deluxe. Both variants have the same engine and basic design, but the Deluxe gets some added graphics for Rs. 500 more. Honda says the new Cliq is targeted at the rural and semi-urban markets, but that shouldn't stop anyone living in cities from buying it. The design is completely new, with new plastic bodywork, like the Honda Navi, but gets a refreshing new front apron, with snazzy graphics and is available in four new colours. The basic platform is borrowed from the Honda Activa. At 102 kg, the Honda Cliq weighs 6 kg less than the Honda Activa, so it's lighter, agile and more easier to handle. The Cliq is priced very competitively, starting at Rs. 42,499 (ex-showroom Delhi). Primarily, Honda wants to grab a share of the market largely dominated by 100-110 cc motorcycles, offering an automatic scooter which promises to serve different requirements and also different members of the family.
