Highlights

We got to know at the close of last years' F1 season that the race in India was taken off the calendar for the 2014 season. However, we were promised that F1 will come back to India in 2015 and we all were prepared deal with that.

However, dark clouds loom over India's F1 future as according to a Reuters report Formula one boss Bernie Ecclestone confirmed that India won't be hosting the F1 race even in the 2015 season.

Earlier in November Ecclestone had said that the Indian Grand Prix would return in 2015 for 6 years, if tax problems are resolved by the country's authorities. The Indian GP, which made its debut in 2011, was part of the F1 calendar for 3 years before being taken of for 2014 season.

India classifies F1 under entertainment and not sport so there is a huge entertainment tax attached to the race. Also considerable bureaucracy has to be overcome in bringing equipment into the country and that has been a major obstacle.

Along with India, South Korea was also dropped from this year's calendar and it too would have to wait for a comeback. However, from what we hear, Baku, the biggest city in the oil-rich country of Azerbaijan, might make its debut either in 2015 or certainly in 2016.

Ecclestone also does not rule out the fact that there could be an F1 race held in Russia as well. There is certainly a big F1 fan base in Russia and considering how well the country organized the Winter Olympics, F1 going there should be a no-brainer.
