Benelli TNT 25: 5 Things You Need to Know
Highlights
The Benelli TNT 25 has been launched at Rs. 1,68,000. The TNT 25 is the only Benelli motorcycle in the Indian market which is powered by a single-cylinder engine and is also the least expensive offering from the Italian brand. Here are five things you need to know about the new Benelli TNT 25.
1) Variants
The Benelli TNT 25 will be offered in two variants - Standard and Premium. Where the Standard variant gets MRF tyres as standard - 110/70 17 at the front and 150/60 17 at the rear - the Premium variant gets the super sticky Metzeler tyres in the same profiles. Despite having more-expensive Metzeler tyres, the Premium variant costs just Rs. 7,000 more than the Standard version.
2) Drivetrain
The heart of the Benelli TNT 25 is a single-cylinder unit which churns out a maximum power of 28.16bhp at 9,800rpm. The liquid-cooled 249cc engine also delivers 21.61Nm of peak torque at a slightly lower 8,000rpm. This is the first bike from the Benelli stable which has a single-cylinder engine, which has helped Benelli to keep the price of the TNT 25 very competitive. The job of delivering the power to the rear wheel is done by a six-speed gearbox. Despite being 50cc smaller than the engine found in the Mahindra Mojo, the engine of the Benelli TNT 25 produces more power than its competitor.
3) Pricing
Benelli has priced the TNT 25 very aggressively - the Standard variant is for Rs. 1,68,000, where the Premium variant has been priced at Rs. 1,75,000 (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi), making it the most affordable Benelli bike in the Indian market. The MRF equipped Standard version is just Rs. 7,000 cheaper than the Premium variant, which gets the Metzeler Sportec M5 tyres. This makes the Benelli TNT 25, especially the Premium variant, perfect value for every rupee you spend.

4) Customization Options
The icing on the cake is the range of customisation options Benelli is offering to TNT 25 owners. According to Benelli, customers can choose from a range of decals and CNC parts, which will let them customise their TNT 25 in 175 possible ways. The endless customisation options ensure that every Benelli TNT 25 can be customised according to its owner's personality, and will cost anything between Rs 15,000 and Rs 50,000.
5) Competition and Market Positioning
The aggressive pricing of the Benelli TNT 25 is surely going to upset the likes of the Mahindra Mojo (Rs. 1.63 lakh) directly as the figures and prices are too similar to neglect. KTM Duke 200, Honda CBR 250R (Rs. 1.6 lakh) and the upcoming BMW G310R are also likely to get affected by the competitive pricing of the Benelli TNT 25. Another high point of the Benellli TNT 25 is almost-zero localisation which speaks a lot about its reliability and fun quotient. Overall, it looks like a good quality product for the entry-level performance bike segment, and is certainly going to find a fan following among enthusiasts.
