Benelli 302 Tourer Unveiled In China
Highlights
- The Benelli 302 Tourer shares its engine with the BN302R
- It weighs in at 216 kilograms
- It was spotted at a DSK Benelli dealership in India last year
Benelli has unveiled a new full-faired sport tourer based on the Benelli BN 302R, and the full-production spec version of the new tourer has been revealed in China. The Italian brand is currently owned by Chinese company Qianjiang. The bike gets an adventure touring style front fairing and tall windscreen, along with hard panniers and a top box, suitable for those inclined towards long distance touring. So far, there's no word on if the bike will be launched in India, but last year the same bike was spotted at DSK Benelli's facility in India, so it might very well be introduced in India sometime.

The engine is the same as the BN 302's, but its output is slightly changes, although it's not clear if the engine has been retuned or if the different output figures are due to different measurement techniques used on the China-spec bike. The engine's output is rated at 34 bhp, down from the 302R's 38 bhp and peak torque is slightly higher at 27 Nm. With the addition of the fairing, windscreen and standard crash guards, the weight of the bike has gone up, and is now rated at 216 kg wet, definitely not what you'd call a lightweight sport tourer.
With increasing focus on the adventure segment of motorcycles globally, Benelli certainly seems to want to tap into the entry-level touring segment with the 302 Tourer. Benelli is also expected to introduce the TRK 502 middleweight adventure tourer sometime later this year, as well as the modern classic Leoncino. So far, there's no word on a confirmed India launch, but we won't be surprised to see Benelli introducing the 302 Tourer in India, in an effort to boost the brand's fortunes in the world's largest two-wheeler market.
