Highlights

  • The auction was held earlier this week at the BFI IMAX in London
  • The auctioned Batpod is described as the 'Hero' version of the prop
  • The Batpod was last seen in 'The Dark Knight Rises'

For Batman fans globally, the Christopher Nolan trilogy stands as one of the most appealing movies to ever have been made on the caped crusader (no offense to Zack Snyder). For auto enthusiasts, the trilogy was all the more special with Batman's commuting choices being the legendary Tumbler, Batpod motorcycle as well as The Bat aircraft.

More recently, the prop store in London decided to auction the movie props from the Dark Knight series with the Batpod also being on the list. It has now been confirmed that a certain and clearly generous fan of the detective has picked up the prop for a whopping Rs. 2.5 crore (3,12,000 GBP).

The Prop Store in partnership with the European theater chain Odeon, held the auction earlier this week at the BFI IMAX in London featuring a huge catalog of awesome movie memorabilia from a wide variety of blockbuster movies. However, it was the Batpod that wound up as the biggest sale of the day.

Described as the 'Hero' version of the prop - which is in a way the version created by the production team for close-up shots and is the most detailed of those constructed (Yes! More of these were built).

The franchise's third and final installment - the 'The Dark Knight Rises' released in 2012 and was one of the highest grossing films that year. It was also the last time we saw the Batpod and Tumbler in action. From the same movie, Batman's Batsuit was bought for 192,000 GBP (around Rs. 1.66 crore), while the costume from the 2005 'Batman Begins' fetched a hefty 96,000 GBP (around Rs. 83 lakh).
