Highlights

Maruti Suzuki India reported its sales figures for June 2022 and the company sold 1,55,857 units (domestic + exports). The automaker registered a year-over-year growth of almost 5.8 per cent, as the company sold 1,47,368 units in June 2021. However, do note that sales last year had just started to recover from the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, which makes for the growth numbers. With respect to month-on-month sales, the company registered a decline of 3.4 per cent with 1,61,413 units sold in May 2022. Maruti Suzuki's domestic sales stood at 1,32,024 units in June 2022, while exports stood at 23,833 units. With the monthly sales down, Maruti Suzuki attributed the decline to the shortage of semiconductor chips, saying that it had "a minor impact on the production of vehicles, mainly the domestic models."

In the A-Mini segment, Maruti's wholesales stood at 14,442 units of the Alto and S-Presso, while the company sold 77,746 units of the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, WagonR and Tour S. Sales of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz stood at 1,507 units, while utility vehicle sales was 18,860 units with the Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza and the XL6 bringing the volumes. Maruti sold 10,130 units of the Eeco van last month. Lastly, 3,025 units of the Super Carry LCV were sold last month. The carmaker also revealed that 6,314 units of the Glanza and Urban Cruiser were sold to Toyota as part of the Suzuki-Toyota partnership.

Maruti Suzuki India also released the sales figures for the Q1 of FY2022-23, and it reported a domestic quarterly sales figure of 3,98,494 units. Adding to that, Maruti Suzuki exported 69,437 units in the 3 month period, taking the overall sales figure to 4,67,931 units (domestic + exports). Maruti Suzuki registered a 32.3 per cent growth over the figures of Q1 FY2021-22, but it is important to note that this period was affected by the pandemic last year, and hence returned limited sales. Maruti Suzuki also launched the new generation Brezza this week, and the updated subcompact SUV will soon start showing its worth in the sales figures.
