Škoda India reported its sales figures for the month of August 2022, and the Volkswagen-owned Czech manufacturer sold 4,222 cars in the month. Škoda also said that it has sold 37,568 cars in India in the first 8 months of of 2022, recording the company's biggest year since its inception in our market. Škoda's previous record for the biggest year was in 2012, when the company sold 34,678 cars.

Upon announcing its results for the month of August 2022, Zac Hollis, Brand Director, Škoda Auto India, said, "All of my communication this year has been about making 2022 the Biggest Year. And now, we have done it. This is a landmark moment for Škoda Auto in India, and in the world. The credit to this achievement goes to our teams, our partners, and most importantly to our customers and our fans."

Škoda sold 23,858 units in India in calendar year 2021, a figure which it surpassed within H1 2022. The manufacturer also reported a 10.4 per cent increase in sales as compared to the figures of August 2021, thanks to the introduction of the Škoda Slavia compact sedan earlier this year. Škoda however, saw a 5.1 per cent decline in sales figures month-over-month, as it sold 4,447 units in July 2022.

Škoda reported 10.4% YoY growth, thanks to the introduction of Slavia.

The sales of Škoda are largely driven by the cars it introduced under its ‘India 2.0’ plan, those being the Škoda Kushaq compact SUV & the Škoda Slavia compact sedan. The two cars are based on the MQB-A0-IN platform developed specifically for India, which is 95 per cent localised.
