Auto Sales August 2022: Ashok Leyland Reports 58% Year-On-Year Growth In Domestic Sales

Ashok Leyland announced its sales figures for the month of August 2022, posting year-on-year growth of 51 per cent overall. Total sales including exports amounted to 14,121 units with domestic sales sitting at 13,301 units – a gain of 58% over last August. Sales were up month-on-month as well in the domestic market climbing to 13,301 units as against 12,715 units in July.

Moving by segment, Medium and Heavy truck sales grew 83% year-on-year to 7,051 units while bus sales picked up from 141 units in August 2021 to 620 in the same month this year. Light commercial vehicle sales meanwhile grew 28% to 5,630 units in the month. Compared to July 2022, sales for trucks and light commercial vehicles saw an uptick in the domestic market though bus sales were down about 15%.

Exports meanwhile stood at 820 units for the month.

Looking at the year-to-date Ashok Leyland showed notable growth in sales as against year-ago numbers. Compared to 2021, cumulative sales for 2022 till August stood at 63,140 units in the domestic market. This marked a notable 91% uptick as compared to the 33,079 units reported last year.

Overall sales including exports for the year-to-date period meanwhile stood at 67,397 units – a gain of 87% over last year.
