Auto Sales April 2022: Toyota Registers 57% Year-on-Year Growth In Sales

Toyota India registered a 57 per cent growth in Year-on-Year (YoY) sales, but the Month-on-Month (MoM) sales saw a 12 per cent decline.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced that the company sold 15,085 cars in India in the month of April 2022. This figure saw a 57 per cent growth over last year's figures, when the Japanese carmaker sold 9,622 units in the country in April 2021. This news follows last month's reports, where the company reported a 58 per cent growth in FY2021-22 over FY2020-21. The Month-on-Month figures however, saw a decline of almost 12%, as the sales dropped from 17,131 units sold last month.

The Fortuner Legender is Toyota's flagship SUV in the country, and the Fortuner remains unchallenged for the crown of its segment.

Atul Sood, Associate Vice President, Sales and Strategic Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, "Demand continues to peak in the new Financial year, as we close the month of April with an overall growth of 57% over wholesales in April 2021. Along with the Crysta, Fortuner and the Legender, the Camry Hybrid too has received very encouraging booking orders". "The response to the 'Cool new Glanza' has also been Awesome and has done very well since the beginning of its deliveries starting March this year, right from Tier I cities to rural markets", he added.

Last month, Toyota India also crossed a significant milestone of cumulative sales of over 20 lakh units since its inception in the country, and the Japanese automaker continues to attract crowds in its showrooms owing to great reliability of its vehicles.
