Mini will launch the brand new second generation Countryman in India at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. The new hatchback is larger than its predecessor and has a new design language while still keeping in touch with the theme of the original Countryman that was launched in 2010. The first generation Mini Countryman was the largest selling Mini model in India along with having the distinction of being the only Mini model to be assembled in India. The Mini Countryman will most likely be offered with the popular diesel engine along with the more powerful Countryman S, which packs in almost 200 bhp of peak power!

The new Mini Countryman features an evolution of design as compared to the last gen. The new car gets a more squared off stance with smaller edgier headlamps and a new grille. The new Mini Countryman also gets a new daytime running light setup with the halo design that is also featured in the likes of the standard Mini hatchback and cabriolet. The new Mini Countryman alsso features some subtle updates around the rear. The signature COUNTRYMAN badging across the bootlid continues and so does the signature tail lamp cluster. The tail lamps themselves though have been updated with a new lighting pattern. The countryman also gets wide and pronounced wheel arches clad in black plastic to pronounce the crossover look.
As we mentioned earlier, the new Mini Countryman is now larger than its predecessor. It is 200 mm longer, 30 mm wider and has a 75 mm longer wheelbase. The longer wheelbase will also mean more space - especially leg and knee space - in the rear for passengers. The boot too is larger now as compared to its predecessor. Expect prices to be similar to the current model at about Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom) and it to go up against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, Audi Q3 and the upcoming Volvo V40.
