The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet made its Indian debut at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo today, with the car set to be launched in 2016-end. When the car made its global debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz described it as the 'most beautiful and exclusive S-Class cars of all time'. And the S-Class Cabriolet definitely does justice to that description.

There is obviously a lot of similarity between the S-Class Cabriolet and the Coupe with the fancy-looking jewel theme DRLs and all that, but for the fact that this one has a retractable three-layer acoustic soft top which is available in black, dark blue, beige and dark red. Despite its relatively large size, the roof can be opened or closed in approximately 20 seconds at speeds up to 60km/h.

The cabin of the 2-door car is a familiar one too and the inside of the car is very similar to the one we saw in the Coupe. However, there are some changes. The S-Class Cabriolet comes with an all-new THERMOTRONIC intelligent climate control system which promises to keep occupants comfortable regardless of whether the roof is open or close.

Mercedes-Benz also offers an extensive assortment of upholstery choices including leather, nappa leather, and designo Exclusive nappa leather. And then there are the sheer options that are available on the car. The car can be equipped with a Warmth Comfort package which includes heated seats, heated armrests and a heated multifunction steering wheel.

Customers can also order an AIR-BALANCE package which can waft a variety of fragrances into the cabin. Then there is also the option of AIRCAP automatic wind protection system or the familiar AIRSCARF neck-level heating system.

Coming to the engines, the entry-level S500 Cabrio is powered by a 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8 that develops 455hp and a massive 700 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission gearbox.

If you've known Mercedes-Benz, it's always willing to give buyers an option of adding more power and hence there is also the S63 AMG or S63 AMG 4MATIC Cabrio on offer. It gets the 5.5-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine that churns out 576bhp. All the power allows the all-wheel drive (AWD) variant to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.
