Audi India is building up on its electric vehicle offensive and the next model joining its line-up is the e-tron GT sports car that was recently unveiled. The German carmaker has started accepting bookings for the e-tron GTfor a token amount of Rs.10 lakh and it is expected to go on sale closer to the festive season period. It will be the brand's third electric offering after the e-tron SUV and sportback, adding to Audi India's largest portfolio in the Indian luxury space. In fact, the Audi e-tron GT made its global debut only in February this year and will come to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). The car is manufactured at the Audi Bollinger Hofe facility in Germany.

The rear of the Audi e-tron GT looks very sporty with the coupe design language.

The Audi e-tron GT is offered in two versions - Quattro and RS - and its likely that both variants will arrive in India. The model was previewed as a concept at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. Visually, the model comes with bold sculpted lines, a large indentation on the bonnet and the signature e-Tron pattern panel instead of the grille. The coupe also gets Matrix LED headlights on the RS version, while Audi laser light is standard on both variants. The Audi e-tron GT rides on 19-inch wheels that can be upsized to 21-inch alloys with aero blades. The electric offering comes with a drag coefficient of just 0.24 cd. The e-tron GT will also come with Audi drive select, all-wheel steering, controlled damping, three-chamber air suspension, rear-axle differential lock, and optional carbon-fibre ceramic disc brakes.

The cabin of the Audi e-Tron GT looks very futuristic and well executed.

The cabin gets a large 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit console, and 10.1-inch MMI touchscreen display as standard. The system supports natural voice commands and Audi Connect services. The MMI navigation plus comes with Wi-Fi hotspot as standard offering intelligent navigation with e-Tron specific functions. It will also get an e-Tron route planner for calculating the fastest route with the shortest possible charging stops at powerful DC charging points.

The Audi e-Tron GT can do a 0 to 100 kmph sprint in just 3.3 seconds.

Power on the Audi e-Tron GT comes from the permanently excited synchronous motor (PSM) mounted on each axle and it is mated to a two-speed transmission at the rear axle, while coupled with an electric all-wheel drive. The electric motors belts out 350 kW or 469 bhp, and 630 Nm of peak torque on the standard e-tron GT. While the RS e-tron GT gets an output of 440 kW or 590 bhp and 830 Nm of peak torque. With launch control, the models get a boost output of 523 bhp and 637 bhp respectively for a maximum of 2.5 seconds. The e-Tron GT quattro does the 0 - 100 kmph sprint in 4.1 seconds, with a top speed of 245 kmph, while the RS does the same in 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 250 kmph. The electric motors are powered by an 85 kWh Lithium-Ion battery, with a range of 488 km (WLTP), and is supported by an 800-volt technology enabling fast DC charging up to 270 kW.
