Andy Palmer, CEO, Aston Martin, said a while back that there is an electric car from the stable in the making and well, here it is! It's called the RapidE concept where the 'E' stands for electric.

The Aston Martin RapidE is based on the Rapide S and is an electric vehicle which has been jointly developed with Williams Advanced Engineering. Aston Martin announced that it is exploring the possibility of a production variant with Chinese investment group ChinaEquity. Using the capital 'E' in a car which already ended with the same letter of the alphabet not only cheeky but brilliant!

Aston Martin has not yet given out the specifics of the RapidE but if the model is green-lighted, it will be built in the United Kingdom and be launched in approximately two years. That said, it begs us to wonder if we are looking at a 1000bhp Aston Martin electric car that will trump the likes of the Tesla Model S(762bhp). It looks like Aston Martin is prepared for whatever comes their way - Tesla or even what the Porsche Mission E Concept might turn out to be.

In a statement, Aston Martin CEO Dr Andy Palmer said "The exciting RapidE concept tangibly demonstrates the capability and ambition of Aston Martin towards developing low- and zero-emission sports cars."

We can't wait to know more about the car!
