Arvind Saxena appointed President and MD of GM India

More than 24 hours have passed since we first reported about Arvind Saxena taking charge of the GM India operations and now the company has finally released an official statement to that effect. 

Arvind Saxena will succeed Lowell Paddock and take over the responsibility of the new MD and President of General Motors India. Paddock, who has been around in India for two years now, will be moving to GM International Operations (GMIO) as Vice President, Planning & Programme Management in Singapore. 

Saxena, who was known for his successful stint at Maruti and then at Hyundai moves out of VW India only after 2 years of joining to a role much more demanding at GM India. Considering the problems the company  has faced in recent times, with the Tavera issue and even with the Sail U-VA and Sail sedan, the sale of these products have taken a serious hit and Saxena already has a herculian task ahead of him. 

Beside this big change, GM India will also bring in two more changes - Plant Head (Talegaon) and Head of Quality. Both these posts will be manned by individuals not belonging to Indian origin. We will get you details on that soon, so stay tuned!
