Arrival Will Only Build 20 Units Of Its Electric Van In 2022
Highlights
Arrival has been building upon the launch of its electric Van project by putting its electric bus project on the back burner as it raises more capital. It has announced that it will be starting production for its Arrival Van in Bicester, UK and will deliver the first vehicles to UPS this year. But these will be just 20 units and the rest will happen when it starts production in Charlotte, North Carolina in the US next year. The US facility was slated to be operational this year in Q3.
It was planning on building 40 to 600 vehicles in the month. It has also been slow to ramp production in the UK facility as it has focused on meeting quality targets. It is already testing its electric van on public roads in the UK and customer trials will start in central London this quarter when they deliver packages. More trails will happen in North America and Europe next year.
It has also revealed that European certification has been achieved for both the Bus and Van project. This news comes at a time when its losses are starting to widen at $89.6 million compared to $56.2 million in 2021 at the same time of the year. It only has $513 million in cash and non-binding orders of 149,000 vehicles which could amount to $6 billion in revenue.
