Ariel Forays into Motorcycle Territory with the Ace
Highlights
Ariel, the company behind the crazy car Atom, had recently announced its plan to introduce their first motorcycle. Clearly, the expectations were high and the interest levels much higher. Not the one to keep its audience waiting for long, the company has finally revealed the motorcycle, which has been christened Ace.
The Ace is one of the most interesting motorcycles in the world today, and Ariel says that the bike can be tailored according to individual customer choices in order to give them exactly the bike they want.
Delving further into the details about this highly customizable bike, Ace is made out of an aluminum frame that takes over 70 hours of machining to create. Buyers can create everything from a low riding cruiser to a super sport bike as they have the option to adjust features like the handlebars, footrests and seat height. The Ace also gets high-performance brakes, interchangeable bodywork and five- or seven-spoke wheels with Dunlop tyres.
At the heart of it breathes a Honda-sourced 1237cc V4 VFR1200 Unicam engine that develops 173bhp and 129Nm of torque. It can be connected to a manual or dual-clutch transmission which enables the bike to accelerate from 0-100Km/h in 3.4 seconds. Top speed is rated at 265Km/h.
According to Simon Saunders, Director, Ariel, "The usual route is to buy a standard bike and then add various aftermarket components to change the bike into what they want. However with the Ace the uniqueness is built in as the bike is produced and each one will be as individual as its owner."
