All New Honda Jazz Launched in India; Prices Start at Rs. 5.3 lakh
Highlights
Honda Cars India today rolled out the much-awaited new-generation Honda Jazz in the country at a starting price of Rs. 5.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The vehicle was first introduced in 2009, but failed to live up to the company's expectations despite being a capable product it, thus leading Honda to discontinue it in 2013. High pricing and unavailability of a diesel model in the line-up were the two major reasons for the old-generation model's failure. However the company has addressed both the issues with the new model. Along with an attractive price range, the premium hatchback now gets a diesel powertrain and that too the most fuel-efficient one in its league.
The vehicle also gets an all new design, which gives it a proper premium hatchback appeal. In its old avatar, it used to look more like a mini-MPV than a hatchback. The new-generation Honda Jazz's front fascia gets City-inspired head-lamps with integrated static bending lights, grille with chrome lining and piano black finish among other changes. The side profile, too, looks different with blackened B and C pilars, 15-inch alloy wheels and outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs) with turn indicators. The most striking features at the rear are LED tail-lamps, roof-mounted spoiler and large windscreen with chrome bar.

The vehicle's interior looks quite similar to the Honda City with the black dashboard, beige/black seat upholstery (depending upon the selected variant), instrument cluster with LCD and blue illumination, steering wheel with phone and audio control buttons, 12.7cm display for audio and navigation systems, leather-wrapped gear-lever, etc.
With 3955mm length, 1594mm height, 1694mm width and 2530mm wheelbase, the Jazz is one of the most spacious cars in its league. The premium hatchback also offers best-in-class boot space of 354-litres. The vehicle comes with two engine options - 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel and 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol - both of which power the Amaze as well. While the diesel unit, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, churns out 99bhp & 200Nm, the petrol model, either with a 5-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission, 89bhp & 109Nm.
As mentioned earlier, the Jazz diesel is claimed to be the most fuel-efficient car in its league with an ARAI-certified mileage of 27.3Km/l. Though the diesel engine used by the Jazz is the same that powers the City, the former with 8 per cent taller gear ratios return better mileage. Its petrol model, too, returns an impressive 19Km/l with the CVT automatic gearbox, and 18.7Km/l with manual.
New Honda Jazz is available with a choice of 7 colour options, namely, Sunset Orange, Carnelian Red Pearl, Urban Titanium Metallic, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Tafetta White, Golden Brown Metallic, and White Orchid Pearl.
