Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Ltd (HMSI), today announced that it will launch 9 new products in this calendar year. Though the onslaught will begin from June, 2015, the company is yet to announce the segment it will target. However, we believe the company's major focus will be on motorcycles.

The company said that it is planning to preview an all-new product at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, which will create a completely new segment in the industry. That said, it is yet to reveal any concrete details; we think it will be the company's long impending motor scooter - the Honda PCX150 - that made its debut as a concept at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

Another major announcement was the introduction of the locally-assembled Honda CBR650F. Since the local assembly of the product has already begun in India, we expect it to be launched here during the festive season.

When asked if the company is planning to bring in new vehicles in the growing 150cc - 200cc category this year, the company neither denied, nor accepted the possibility of bringing in a product in the category.

Moving on to expansion plans, Honda will increase its production capacity by 39% in the next 2 years. The company recently inaugurated its 4th plant in India, which will have an annual production capacity of 12 lakh units by this fiscal year end, to aid that goal. The company's focus will be on expanding its network as well - it plans to open 800 new sales & service stations with special focus on tier-II and tier-III cities. Moreover, HMSI will also introduce 20 mobile service vans and 825 service on wheels to increase its reach in the rural market.
