Highlights

When you intend to make a movie solely based on some insane looking car-chase, you might need a production designer who has a thorough knowledge of cars. On Mad Max: Fury Road, that job was done by Colin Gibson, who worked with George Miller on creating those post-apocalyptic war chariots. One can only dream of driving The War Rig that Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) was driving in that movie. So what made Gibson to get such impeccable inspiration to foresee those beastly cars?

One thing that is very clear in this movie is that everything went through the recycling process. What was new was old again or what was old changed into a new one. So everything those cars have is an amalgamation of new and recycled parts. It looks like the whole art crew was in a kind of frenzy to build up a stockpile of things that had inherent interest or beauty and which could be later taken out of context and reused.

Here is a detailed description of those monster cars.

    The War Rig

This car undoubtedly deserves the position of the "Car-in-charge". The component of the vehicle on the back of the war rig is the shell of a Volkswagen Beetle and parts of a Chevy Fleet master. The vehicle is between an 18-wheel leviathan and a hot rod. Anyway, the truck is most famously helmed by the formidable Furiosa (Charlize Theron) during the high-speed chase across the desert wasteland and this was something to marvel at!

    Immortan Joe's The Gigahorse

This vehicle played a prominent role in the movie. Although the vehicle itself looked like a couple of Cadillac Coupe de Villes, they had gone out and had a secret mating ritual. If you put it that way, this was always the theory. This group of Cadillac is the original 1959's edition. However, not only on Cadillac but it is also based on a truck Chassis.

    Famous Doof Wagon

Another noteworthy four-wheeler is the Doof Mobile, the "morale machine" of Immortan Joe's militia party. The car is based on the concept of a rock concert, an array of loudspeakers and spotlights. It is mainly a compilation of eight-wheel drive rocket-launcher trucks. The crew stripped it back and rebuilt it with steel air-conditioning ducting from the insides.

    The Nux Car: Chevrolet Coupe

A 1932 Chevrolet Coupe was Nux's (Nicholas Hoult) chariot chasing Furiosa to get Splendid and other wives. This Chevrolet Coupe is a modification of a 1934 Chevrolet 5 window coupe. Four of Nux's cars were solely built for this movie. As a part of all the modifications, a part of cross-section modifications was added where a man could be used as a "blood-bag". It is the car where Max was tied and tethered as a blood bag before taking over the war rig.

    The Buggy

Next on the list is the war boys' Black coupe. This sleek car is the original 1970's Parentti that was once built and modified in Australia. The crew once informed that an Australian company modified some C3 Corvettes' bodies, and the final result was the Australian Parentti.

    Conclusion:

A wasteland where gasoline is priceless and more valuable than gold and people are constantly on the move; where the cars are both the means of travel and weapon of choice is the plot of this Mad Max movie. These 5 vehicles are not just props; they were given life in this movie. Undoubtedly, the audiences keep on wondering how the cars will look without makeup; it can be very interesting and overwhelming to see what these cars used to be like.
