35,123 Challans Issued Under Motor Vehicle Act in Haryana

    The Haryana Transport Department collected Rs. 53.94 crores on account of compounding fees for the 35,123 challans it issued during the year 2014-15. The department added that it also collected Rs. 41.53 crore between April 1, 2015 to October 31, 2015 for 23,843 challans for offences under Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.

    The Haryana Transport Department collected Rs. 1,191 crore during the last financial year, while its revenue target was Rs. 1,175 crore. For the current year, the target is Rs. 1,316 crore out of which Rs. 771 crore have already been collected. Just so you know, this marks an increase of 16.07 per cent in the revenue receipt as compared to corresponding period of previous year.

    The department's effort to aid road safety don't just stop at stringent compliance-check of the rules for the road. The Haryana Transport Department has established 3 Institutes of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) at Bahadurgarh, Rohtak and Kaithal to noy only help increase road safety, but also provide training to drivers. A spokesman for the department said 43,438 drivers were trained in 2014-15, while 34,080 were trained during the April 1, 2015 - October 31, 2015 period.

    Additionally, another IDTR is being set up in Bhiwani, while the proposal for yet another IDTR in Mewat district has been sent to Union Government.

    Other than the IDTRs, a motor vehicles' inspection and certification centre with fully automated and computerised machines is also being set up at Rohtak. The spokesman added the aforementioned centre will allow the state to improve road worthiness of motor vehicles.
