The 2022 Yamaha MT-10 has been officially unveiled in Europe, and while there are similarities to the outgoing model, the new MT-10 gets a complete revamp, with new styling and more power. The most significant changes are in the 998 cc CP4 engine, which has been tweaked to offer more power, better efficiency and also a better exhaust note. The changes are in the engine internals, with heavier offset steel con-rods, lightweight aluminium forged pistons, and direct-plated cylinders which are said to not just maximise efficiency, but also offer meatier torque between 4,000 and 8,000 rpm.

The bike's power has increased from 158 bhp to 164 bhp, while peak torque increases from 111 Nm to 112 Nm, peaking at 9,000 rpm. The rev note has been improved too, with an acoustically tuned airbox, which gets three uneven length and diameter intake tubes tuned to resonate at specific pitches. Towards the rear end, is a new titanium exhaust, which is said to be tuned to produce an even better soundtrack from the crossplane-crank engine.

The KYB suspension of the base MT-10 is retained, as are the R1-derived brake calipers, but a new Brembo radial master cylinder has been introduced for better brake lever feel. There's a new 4.2-inch, full-colour, TFT instrument console with an improved ride-by-wire system, aided by a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) which powers a long list of rider aids.
There's wheelie control, engine brake control, cornering ABS, cornering traction control, as well as Yamaha's SCS slide control system. There are four riding modes providing presets for the rider aid systems, which are individually adjustable. A quickshifter is standard now on the 2022 Yamaha MT-10.

The design has been updated too, with a cleaner look. Twin LED headlights make the aggressive face with brow-like LED DRLs mounted under the short flyscreen. The fuel tank is smoother than before, and the air intake scoops along the tank, as well as the tail section have been re-designed, giving the new MT-10 a fresh and updated design. In Europe, the 2022 Yamaha MT-10 will go on sale from February 2022, but so far, there doesn't seem to be any possibility of the new MT-10 being launched in India.
