2022 Mahindra XUV700 To Get Auto Booster Headlamps

The countdown to the launch of the new Mahindra XUV700 has begun in India and the new flagship SUV promises to be a tech-induced offering with several segment-first features. Ahead of the launch scheduled in a few weeks from now, Mahindra has teased the first feature of the XUV700, which will be the Auto Booster headlamps. As the teaser video explains, the feature will be activated as soon as the SUV crosses the speed limit of 80 kmph at night. The feature uses an extra set of lights and improves the illumination distance and visibility.

Internally codenamed W601, the Mahindra XUV700 will replace the XUV500 that's currently on sale. The model is also expected to move up on the segment ladder sporting improvements on every level. It will continue to be underpinned by a monocoque platform. Other details about the XUV700 will include LED headlamps and DRLs, C-shaped wraparound LED taillights, flush-fitting door handles and larger alloy wheels.

Previous spy shots have revealed dual-screens in the cabin for the digital console and the infotainment system. The SUV is also likely to be larger in proportions with better space in the second and third row. Other features likely on the XUV700 will include electrically-adjustable front seats with memory function, drive modes, engine start-stop, as well as Level 1 autonomous driving.

Engine options on the new Mahindra XUV700 will include the 2.0-litre petrol and diesel from the mStallion range. The engines made their debut on the new Thar and pack a solid punch. The powertrain is likely to be offered with manual and automatic transmission options right from the start. Prices for the new XUV700 is likely to begin from Rs. 15 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).

The Mahindra XUV700 will be the second model after the Thar in the brand's new product portfolio. The automaker plans to introduce nine new products by 2026 that will also include the new generation Scorpio, Thar 5-door, next-generation Bolero, as well as electric vehicles based on the new Born EV platform.
