The front wheels of the Ranger have been pushed slightly forward to reduce its front overhangs in a bid ton improve the approach angle. Then at the front, a new hydro-formed structure has freed-up more space in the engine bay for a larger V6 turbodiesel engine. The rear track too has been widened by 50 mm increasing the load area and there is a built-in side steps behind the rear wheels to provide easier access to the bed.

It also has a sturdy plastic-moulded bedliner that Ford claims will withstand the test of time thanks to its rugged construction and there are cargo tie-down points mounted as well on steel tube rails. Similar to the smaller Maverick and bigger F-150, the middle child gets 360-degree lighting and a smart tailgate that can double as a mobile workbench with a built-in ruler.

Under its hood, the 2.5-litre mill in the previous Ranger is now replaced by a 3.0-litre full-fat V6 oil-burner sourced from the F-150. We still don't have the power output figures but the same engine in the F-150 belts out around 247 bhp and 600 Nm of peak torque and we expect the tuning to remain unaltered even for the Ranger.
