Volvo Car India has launched the updated XC90 SUV priced at Rs. 89.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2021 XC90 now gets a host of upgrades, most notably the new 2.0-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine replacing the diesel motor. This is the same engine with a 48-volt electric motor that was introduced on the XC60 and S90 recently. On the XC90, the motor is tuned to develop 296 bhp and 420 Nm of peak torque. Power goes to all four wheels via the 8-speed automatic transmission. This is part of Volvo's ongoing transition from diesel to petrol and petrol to electric vehicles in its stable.

Speaking about the launch, Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India, said, "With the launch of the new XC90, we have launched three new petrol mild-hybrid models this quarter. This launch completes our commitment to transit from diesel to petrol and underlines our unfettered strategy to grow the Indian market."
The new Volvo XC90 comes loaded with new-age features like a head-up display that allows you to watch your speed, follow turn-by-turn navigation, answer phone calls and more. The model uses an intuitive touchscreen interface that combines car functions, navigation, connected services and in-car entertainment applications. The Volvo XC90's cabin uses a blend of high-end materials such as wood, crystal and metal. The model gets a crystal gear knob, while upholstery options include Maroon Brown and Amber.
Other upgrades include an advanced air purifier, heated front seats with massage function, a 19-speaker Bowers and Wilkins stereo system, and a vertically stacked touchscreen infotainment system. There's also Adaptive Cruise Control, pilot assist, Lane Keeping Aid, collision mitigation support, 360-degree camera, and more.
Similar to the S90 and XC60 mild hybrids, the brand is also offering a three years' Volvo Service Package at a special price of Rs. 75,000 (+taxes). The introductory offer is only for the current festive season.
