The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift 5-seater SUV will be launched in India on December 7. As Volkswagen has already announced, it is one of the four SUVs that the company had planned to launch in India this year, with the other three being the all-new Taigun and 2021 versions of the T-Roc and the Tiguan AllSpace 7-seater SUV. The updated Tiguan made its global debut back in 2020, and now the SUV is finally ready to go on sale in India as well. Upon launch, it will compete with the likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, and Citroen C5 AirCross.

Like with the pre-facelift Tiguan, Volkswagen plans to locally assemble the mid-size SUV in India. Visually, the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan comes with updated styling more in line with the brand's current design language. It sports a slightly tweaked grille with LED Matrix headlights and LED DRLs giving a sleeker look upfront. Moreover, the front bumper has been revamped housing a triangular shaped fog lamp. The rear section gets slimmer taillights to enhance the overall appeal of the SUV.

The Tiguan also gets a newly designed cabin equipped with the virtual cockpit, Vienna leather seats, 30 shades ambient lighting, illuminated scuff plates, expansive panoramic sunroof, illuminated gear knob, touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, flat-bottom steering wheel with multi-functions, driver-side electric seat with memory function, three-zone climate control, and much more. As for safety, the SUV is loaded with 6-airbags, a driver alert system, ABS, tyre pressure monitoring system, ESP, ASR, EDL, auto hold, hill start assist, hill descent control and more.

Under VW Group's new strategy for India, the Volkswagen Tiguan too will be a petrol-only SUV, and it will be powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine, tuned to make 187 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission as standard and will be coupled with the 4Motion all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.
